Stan and Jan Berenstain were already successful cartoonists for magazines and adult humor books when they began writing children's books. Berenstain Bears and the Truth

Our family enjoys this book because it uses a common situation (a lamp broken by a ball kicked in the house) to illustrate the importance of telling the truth. Especially appealling was the end- where the cubs learn that mother is more concerned with their honestey than their accidents. The message is that we don't need to be perfect, but we do need to tell the truth.

I liked think story if still relevant

I liked think story if still relevant. Some children may be too young to understand though. We took to school as well to share with the class and the teacher said it went over well. The kids had started learning to tell stories to avoid punishment... Pre-K3. I think if you wait until that starts happening before introducing this book, then it'll be the right time.

Loved the Berenstain Bears as a kid

Loved the Berenstain Bears as a kid, great to share these books with my own kids! Like the moral message of this book too - all about a little white lie that gets out of hand. Nice resolution in the end, as you'd expect with the B.Bears.
